As everybody knows Benetton is well-known for its creative as well as controversial campaigns on hot matters. Its last one includes a series of posters featuring world political and spiritual leaders with lips locked to launch the UNHATE project.
At first Benetton, claimed that the polemic material, is inviting "the leaders and citizens of the world to combat the 'culture of hatred'". But the picture showing The Pope and Ahmed Mohamed el-Tayeb, Imam of the Al-Azhar mosque in Cairo, kissing eachother obligued the company to withdrawn the poster and apologize.
What is your opinion? Do you think Benetton's campaigns intent to denounce social matters or are just commercially focused to call for attention on its products? Do you agree with the direct exhibition this type of aggressive material?

I think this campaign, though risked and aggressive, is a great way to denounce that the hate doesn't lead us to any good way. Benetton recieves a lot of attention and its name is everywhere, which is a benefit for them indeed, by doing this type of campaigns. Due to that, the company goes on doing that kind of campaigns: they adquiere fame and,at the same time, denounce social matters in order to aware people.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think that Benetton’s campaigns try to denounce social matters, but at the same time, the campaigns are a way of doing publicity about Benetton and its products.

At first I have to say that althought I must admit this idea can hurt someone's fellings, in my opinion Benneton's doing a great publicity campaign using this powerful and shocking pictures.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, for Benneton, this can also be a bad publicity in some countries and comunities because of the excessive agresivity of the photographies.
It's true that there some subjects that is very difficult to talk about them, but Benetton, in his campaing, is not talking about a tabú matter, they are only trying to say that love is very important in our society, and they use a kiss to show it, because the kiss is the international symbol of love. In the other hand, most of the people are talking about Benetton, and this is a sign that Benetton have achieved his objective, because this is only publicity.
ReplyDeleteThe campaign has been done to fight against the racism, basically. So, at first thoughts, it isn't a bad idea. But at the same time, Benetton has been a little bit risky, because this pictures may have wounded some people's beliefs.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion i think that with their aggressive campaign, Benneton is trying to advice to the people about the huge power that the big politicians and religious people have and denounce to the people how much wealth they have as for example the church, who talks a lot about how much people is dieing for the hungry, but everybody knows that if they sold all the luxes they have in the Vatican as the paintings a lot of poor people will be able to eat and survive.
ReplyDeleteTo the first sight it is a very original campaign that undoubtedly it puts in the mouth of all "benetton", but I consider to be normal that there should be people who takes offence because they are a few very strong and polemic images, but i'm sure that it's a campaign with very nice wishes.The idea of the campaign is beautiful, love is everywhere.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Benetton wants to denounce a social matters, but really Benetton wants to anounce itself. I think these campaigns could be very dangerous because they are so much aggressiveness with the photos-
ReplyDeleteAbout this campaign, I think that the first objective of benetton is to call a lot of public attention to try to sell more. But, in my opinion, they have done a great job. The Unhate campaign tries to say that everyone worth the same and we don't have reasons to hate anyone, if we all respect eachother. But, in the other hand, it's true that this campaign will create much controversy because they have used an agressive matterial. I like so much benetton camaigns, they are really creative, original and unusual. And the most important thing, all the campaigns have great meanings.
ReplyDeleteAt first I think that Bennetton's ideas are original. They make that people talk about the shoking pictures, so they are a good way of doing publicity.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, some of these photographies are too agressive, but I like the idea of this campaign, because it's crative.
In my opinion, I think that Benetton wants to denounce social matters with an original and creative campaign, but also they do publicity for their products. The pictures are very strong but it's the only way to get people react. I think that they do with the best intentions, and this is the most important.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I must admit that this campaign is very interesting, because they show us that life is the same for all people, but I personally think that some pictures may be a bit aggressive, besides they can be offensive to some people.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that Benetton's campaigns have their own intention to report or denounce social matters in all the world. All this photographies have their own sense and not all of them are so aggressive.
Moreover, Benetton advertising does not want to sell a product but to make people relate this type of ads with the brand.
As I said, I do like this ads but maybe some people can feel offended.

In my opinion this campaign is so good, and interesting, because with it they are denouncing a problem, and at the same time they are doing publicity of Benetton. I like to much because they want to make peolpe relate about real problems, and i think it's a good way to do it, i think that they sould go on with that because people need to realise to the problems of today.
ReplyDeleteFrom my point of view I believe that Benetton does these campaigns to shout the attention of the buyers,becouse it´s unique and creative. It is a lack of respect for all the people and the religions represented by these persons, we can´t not like all the presidents or religious leaders ,but every person deserves to be respected.
